My name is Mukiibi Salapio, though my friends call me Ronald. I am 26 years old, married to my beloved wife Fatia, and we are blessed with our son, Reuben. I am the Director and founder of Save For Life Africa Organisation. I studied up to Advanced level, and although my journey was not always easy, the kindness I received from others and the faith my mother planted in me taught me that we should never forget those who are struggling.
I grew up knowing what it meant to need help. During my childhood and education, kind people supported me, and through my talent in playing football, my love for prayer, humility and respect for others, many people showed me kindness. Most importantly, my mother taught me faith from childhood. Those experiences planted a deep desire in me to one day give hope to other children who were facing difficulties.
The Journey
From a Dream to a Home
Save For Life Africa Organisation started in 2019, after a dream I had carried in my heart since I was growing up and studying. Before COVID-19, Save For Life Africa Organisation was caring for 20 children.
When COVID-19 came with all the challenges and limitations that everyone experienced, our resources became very limited. We were forced to return some children to their guardians, while keeping those who had nowhere else to go. At first, we remained with 17 children, and eventually the number reduced to 10.
Today, we are blessed to have 12 children who live permanently at the orphanage home. We also continue supporting other vulnerable children from the surrounding community whenever we can. There are many more children yearning for a safe place, education, food, love and a better future, and our greatest desire is to accommodate and help more of them. Unfortunately, our resources currently limit how much we can do.
Why It Means So Much
"For me, these children are not simply children we care for — they are family. ❤️ They deserve to feel loved, valued and hopeful. Every meal, every school requirement, every piece of clothing, every prayer and every act of kindness reminds them that someone believes in their future."
